Pain by Okikiola Peri

P

My accomplice is hurt
Having a passion for death
Mainly wanting to bring havoc
Expectancy that leads to depression
To leave an uncomfortable impression
Usually against healing
Not caring about what you are feeling
Hatred is always expected
Happiness is neglected

Discomfort is my mission
Arousing tears without permission
Why would I care?
I want you to fear
My existence is a reminder that death and destruction are near
There’s no one I can’t dare
The depths of my effects can not be compared
The way I affect you, you are never prepared

This functionality is my faith and purpose
Pleasure and I are not close
You derive no joy from tasting me
Causing temporary damage is my destiny

Pencilmarks and Scribbles Magazine was founded in 2017 by Clara Jack to be a home for African writers, asking them to come as they are and giving them room for growth. The publication aims to give back to the Nigerian Literary scene for the things it has given us.
